“Welcome to our first edition of our digital newsletter, ‘Captured: The Diary of A Proposal Planner’.
Myself and the team are so excited to share the exciting proposals we’ve been working on and any extra fun news from the life of a proposal planner.
This is a way to find out what happens behind the wizard’s curtain here in Oz (Manchester) as we put together our new packages. It’s been a busy few months, so it’s hard to actually pick a favourite proposal of all the ones we’ve done so far, but there bits of each that stand out for their own reasons which we love sharing with you.
For full details, check out our social media pages and blog for regular updates on what we’re up to.
Don’t forget to contact us if you have any questions about our services or are interested in creating a captured proposal of your own!” – Rob Illidge, Founder
We recently had a Harry Potter themed proposal at Tower Bridge – it was such fun getting the place all magical and mystical for Laurence and Katie! The glass walkway was filled with romantic rose petals and Harry Potter style decorations like broomsticks and owls to give the venue a real Hogwarts-esque feel to it.
Muggles were cleared away and Katie entered to see Laurence standing alone at the end of a pathway of love letters, ready to pop the all-important question. Catering his proposal to include Katie’s favourite film brought originality to it and made him a true #ProposalHero!
Office Pick Of The Month
Our team has picked this stunning photo of Abed and Alex after their Kyoto Garden proposal as our favourite this month because of the pure joy on their faces! We love seeing how happy and excited our couples are to spend the rest of their lives together and Abed’s beautiful Japanese Garden proposal for Alex definitely got us all smiling.
This photo showcases how special it can be to capture a proposal, because it gives you a way to look back on this important occasion and remember the emotions clearly.

News at Proposals HQ
- We’ve recently completed part of our journey at Entrepreneurial Spark (Powered by Natwest) in Manchester. This has been an incredible experience filled with such a supporting team of hardworking visionaries; we’re so happy to have been a part of this program.
- Our founder and supreme leader Rob Illidge is now officially less than 7 months away from his wedding, which meant time for Stag Do #1, which he celebrated a couple of weeks ago in Las Vegas! Luckily he returned not missing any teeth or with a new tattoo across his face.
- With Christmas around the corner, we’ve started to annoy the rest of the office by loudly singing Christmas songs while plotting festive proposals – it’s time to get in the Christmas spirit!! Keep an eye on the blog for more jolly updates and articles.
We’re so excited for the arrival of our first Captured Proposals baby. Aaron and Alison’s bundle of joy is set to arrive soon, and we wish them all the best with the new member of their family! After some lovely engagement photos at their proposal, we can’t wait to see the baby photos.
We’re partnered with the jewellers David M Robinson and if you ask us, their collections are proposal perfection! With rings to suit all budgets, there’s a beautiful range of choice to find the perfect ring for your partner. Also remember, sometimes your partner may prefer to pick the ring out with you after a proposal, so if you’re unsure, maybe don’t worry about ring shopping pre-proposal.
Victory Of The Month
Rob: “Planning and preparing the Shangri-La proposal for Craig and Charlotte, it was great to get to chat to the couple afterwards and see how our work was valued. Another happy couple is always a victory for me.”
Dani: “Planning proposal ideas around some of our favourite Halloween films, the Time Warp flash mob was my personal favourite one.”
Elena: “Winning a battle of cat puns on twitter. Life goals achieved.”
Kyoto Garden, Holland Park (London)
While we love all our locations, the Japanese garden in Holland Park has been especially popular with our clients, who love the stunning backdrop for their proposal photographs. We’ve had some incredible proposals here and the team are always so helpful with the special requests from our clients, we just can’t wait for the next one. If this could be you – get in touch today.
Drop A Hint
Don’t forget about our ‘Drop A Hint’ service. If you know someone who should be thinking about proposing, pass on their details and we’ll add them to our mailing list to give them a nudge into action. We’ll always be discrete but this could be the prompt they need! Or feel free to email us if you’ve got any questions (such as how to theme a proposal, our proposal tips or wedding planning help if you’re already happily engaged).
